“AlterEgo is a wearable silent speech interface that enables a discreet, seamless and bi-directional communication with a computing device in natural language without discernible movements or voice input.”

I will research on AlterEgo to find out how it to cognitively augment humans, change the way people communicate with one another, and enable a discreet gateway to digital information where the interaction is intrinsic rather than something extrinsic.

  • A novel wearable architecture for a bidirectional silent speech device.

  • How the neuromuscular input works.

  • The utility of the device as a personal computing platform and interface.

Weekly Schedule

The video below has more information on the AlterEgo, as well as a demonstration of the hardware in action. It includes a demo of the hardware being used by an individual with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
